Hi Arden, and thank you for the translation!  I will add it to the next release of the game.

Hi Russ,

Sorry to hear that didn't solve the crashing problem.

Please be sure you have version 1.0.3 of the game. Earlier versions of the game played the high score sound no matter if the sound was on or off.

You can check the version number by choosing "About..." from the game menu.

Hi again,

Based on the error message you typed below (thanks for including this detail!), this appears to be a problem playing the High Score sound on your device.

You can try working around the problem by turning off the sound for the game using the "Sound" option on the game menu. Let me know if this doesn't work for you.

Also, can you tell me if this crash occurs when other sounds play? For exampe, if you're a pig (i.e., you keep rolling and lose all your points), does the "oink oink" sound play or does the game crash?

Thanks for the report. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only fan of Pigs & Chickens!

I'll look into this problem and get back to you.

Feature Requests / Re: WVGA touch screen support

Hi Thomas,

Good news! I'm glad to hear that Smoresoft Sudoku is working fine on WVGA devices!

Hi Thomas,

Theoretically, the display should scale to any size device, but I haven't tested it on a WVGA display. How bad does it look? I'll see if I can find an emulator to test it.

Hi Indra!

Excellent!  Thank you for the translation!  I give you an A+ for your homework, and will include it in the next update of the language pack.

Thanks again,

Hi Catalin,

Your translation is now included in the download at, and you're in the translations credits list on the site as well. Let me know how you'd like your name to appear in the in-game credits for the next release (otherwise, it will show up as "Catalin").

Thank you again!

Hi Catalin,

Thank you so much!  I will add this to the language pack as soon as possible and send your registration code.

P.S. I apologize for not responding sooner. It seems that I didn't get the notificiation for your new post.

Support / Re: Smoresoft sudoku terminates on launch (V1.7)

Hi Theo,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for finding a temporary solution.  This can happen if the owner.config file is 0 bytes.  (Let me know if the renamed owner.config is > 0 bytes and you still have the problem.)

This will be fixed in version 1.8.

Thanks again!

Feature Requests / Re: Font type, size and color
« on: March 25, 2008, 04:56:27 AM »
Hi Sam,

Check out the "How to create a theme" topic for instructions on how to make your own theme, which allows you to customize all of the colors.

The font and size are auto-selected based on the size of the device screen, so you cannot customize them. But I'll add this to the wish list for consideration in a future release.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Note that this is fixed in version 1.7.  Just tap-and-hold to display the menu.

Hi AP,

You can submit a support request at It is helpful if you include your registration code, in case you've changed your email address since you registered.

I've activated your registration code for your replacement device, so you can register on the new device now.

Hope this one works better for you!

Discussion / Re: Pre-purchase Question
« on: March 03, 2008, 10:02:31 PM »
Hi Steve,

Great questions!

The game comes with 300 puzzles:  100 Beginner puzzles, and 50 each at the Easy, Moderate, Difficult, and Fiendish levels.  I think you'll find that the puzzles are much more interesting to solve than puzzles that are randomly generated by other games.

You can download additional puzzle packs on the Puzzle Pack download page (currently about 400 additional puzzles available at various levels), and from the Puzzle Packs Forum.

For advanced users, the Puzzle Packs Forum also contains a downloadable utility that will convert a number of puzzle pack file formats into a Smoresoft Sudoku puzzle pack.

Regarding your second question, there is currently no setting to turn off the guidelines (the vertical and horizontal lines).

The guidelines are intended to make it easier to spot the currently selected cell, not really as an assistance feature, but I can see that it might be nice to turn them off. I'll submit this feature request for the next release of the game.

If you're really motivated, you could make the guidelines invisible by creating your own theme and specifying a transparent "guideLine" color (see How to create a theme). You're welcome to try this without having to register first.

General Discussion / Re: This game is great!

Hi Pablo,

I'm sorry, but we don't have any plans to expand to other platforms in the near future.

We don't currently have the developer resources to port applications to multiple platforms, and we've chosen to bet on Windows Mobile.

Thanks for the interest, though!
